Yesterday we had reports that AT&T was playing with the idea of bringing the Pre on board once Sprint’s exclusivity period with the device is up. Well Reuters released a report today that dropped an even bigger bombshell.
Verizon will be carrying the Palm Pre within 6 months according Lowell McAdam who is a top exec over at Verizon.
To quote McAdams: “Over the next six months or so you will see devices like Palm Pre and a second generation Storm.”
Bringing the Pre to other carriers makes sense, considering that Sprint continues to lose subscribers every quarter. Palm is also in trouble as a company and NEEDS the Pre and webOS to be a success to survive. Walt Mossberg recently did an interview with Yahoo Finance and stated that he thinks Palm as a company is “running on fumes” and really can’t compete with other phone makers because of the huge amounts of cash their competitors (Apple and RIM) have to throw around.

This is great news! Guess I won’t be switching to Sprint after all! I can wait another 6 months.
I have had the same flip phone sanyo mm-8300 since fall 2005.
Current ’smartphone’ line up @ Sprint is lacking. Instinct S30 might be ‘cool’ if it was open and you could program for it.
No wonder sprint continues to bleed. No cool phones.
Looks like I have 0 chance of getting a PRE next week. Freaking waiting till end of July/August is not appealing. Might as well wait for Storm 2.
Wait, they will have the Palm Pre or “devices like Palm Pre”? If that’s a verbatim quote, he didn’t actually say they’d be stocking a Pre!
Like verizon needs the palm pre, give me a break such losers let sprint have something nice for once an stop trying to copy cat fags!
I don’t care how many customers Sprint loses. With price plans like the $70 everything plan, you can’t lose! ESPECIALLY since they added the unlimited mobile-to-mobile ANY CARRIER portion of their plan. As long as I can pay $70 for unlimited EVERYTHING, I don’t need anyone else for my carrier. AND I get a Palm Pre to boot!
Verizon didnt need 2 take the palm away they really are copycats and it makes me angry they are such copiers
