HTC Evo 4G Release Date When Will it Become Available from Sprint

by Kevin on March 26, 2010

The official HTC Evo 4G release date is summer 2010. Well, to be more accurate, the HTC Evo will be available in June, coincide with the next version of iPhone. I doubt we will see iPhone 4G since AT&T’s LTE network won’t be ready until 2012. And people are more excited to see HTC Evo release than seeing the Palm Pre Plus coming to AT&T (yeah, AT&T announced this news around the same time as Sprint’s HTC Evo 4G press release). According to my previous experience with Sprint, they will probably set the HTC Evo 4G release date on the weekends (usually Saturdays), that gives us 6/5, 6/12, 6/19, and 6/26. And I am sure they will try to be ahead of any new iPhone announcement. My bet will be 6/5. What do you think?

Update: HTC Evo 4G is available now for $189.99. ONLINE ONLY. NO REBATES REQUIRED!

I think that it won’t be in June at all because their 4G network may not be stable enough and widespread if the device launches too early. Although I hope that I may see the Evo in June, I know in my heart that I shall not receive any such satisfaction. My gut is sticking with July. Which, if in the second half of July, I might get the phone free as a birthday present! But I’d rather have it in June than get it for free.

I like 6/5 cuz then they can use it like a countdown 6/5/4G. So Sprint if you didn’t think of it already i want mine free for all the money you are gonna make off of my brilliant marketing mind. I am also hoping for a June release date since i was going to switch to the Iphone at the end of june when my contract ran out cuz Sprint hasn’t put out a game changing phone since ….. oh yeah ever.

gmo March 28, 2010 at 3:46 pm

Although my contract ends in June, I was going to pay the pro-rated penalty and start a iPhone contract last week…. then I learn of Sprint’s Evo. Whoa nellie, sounds good but, the last time I didn’t go with the iPhone I choose Sprint’s Instinct based on all the media hype. What a mistake that was! For nearly 2 years I’ve been using and resenting my 1st edition Instinct. Now at a similar crossroads the Evo sounds good, but iPhone will compete with what features, then there is the release dates, and prices of course… at any rate I’m holding off for now.

is there any talk on a price for this wonderful device?

AB March 31, 2010 at 8:41 pm

I talked to Sprint and they said they are releasing it in May 2010

cristian March 31, 2010 at 10:09 pm

it shouldd be in may soo i could have it for a birthday present =] ima switch my palm pre for the htc evo i dont care how much it costz but ima buy it

Ha April 1, 2010 at 11:36 am

I don’t know why people ask about the price. If you have to ask about the price then you can’t afford it. If you must know about price, it wouldn’t be more then the iphone. I would say its going to be less then 250. I’d bet it will be right at 199. or 179 like the nexus one and hero which are other HTC android devices.

Sprint doesn’t want to try to drop this phone until the iphone release date is set. Sprint wants to wait till the iphone has a release date so Sprint can rival the iphone’s supreme ruling as the top smart phone.

I have a 3gs and it really nice but no flash and no multitasking out of the box is a deal breaker for me. I want this Evo so bad because I love a phone with a huge screen, and I always wanted a 1ghz processor. I hate the apple os, the palm pres laggy os, and the epic failing windows mobile witch always sucks everytime they bring out a new phone. Fuck windows. But thats another story. YAY EVO!!!!!

I will be switching back to sprint as soon as this phone comes out. I also plan on using my EVO as a router and as a blue-ray player

this fucking phone is going to kill EVERYTHING. Cant wait till i get my hands on this phone i will be so addicted to it, heroin…. and for all you apple fans, Iphone been out of the game. Android os murdered it but, the phones may not have been on the same notch until the Nexus One. Also, the new iphone will be shit. Unless they get rid of the single button, add a better camera with flash, get a better processor, CUSTOMIZE!!!!. I was sick of that boring ass no backgroud phone and i decided not to jailbreak it to try out the actual phone. Sorry, but the Androids have way more options for, well just about anything. HTC+Android+Sprint=EVOlution

Ill be getting one of these bad boys on day one. I’ll be sad to see the Touch Pro2 go, but I won’t miss Winmo one bit. Hello Android!

@gmo: Thats a good point, but this thing is way bigger of a deal than the Instinct was when it was new. Plus its HTC which is FTW, I have never been happy with Samsung phones.

blackberry curve to htc

Scott April 19, 2010 at 8:49 pm

The Palm Pre was released last year on 6/6/09 and if we all remember Sprint did the exact same thing so I would bet that the EVO is released the first weekend in June.

rick April 21, 2010 at 8:32 pm

I really don’t care when it comes out…i will make sure I’m one the first to be blessed by this amazing evo device… I just want to express dear concern to all you weak iphone lovers…who will be paying early cancellation fees with AT&T, to switch to the one and only SPRINT!!! Lol!!!! Sprint runs it baby!!!!!!

john April 24, 2010 at 3:30 pm

it doesnt matter if the 4g isnt ready the phone is 3g/4g. so you will be using 3g until the 4g is ready then you just switch the settings

orlando April 30, 2010 at 11:17 pm

anyone that says this phone isn’t a iphone killer has another thing coming. I’m still worried about the app store for iphone it does have some killer application. But, who crares when you can’t multitask. They need to send the iphone back. I seen some leaked information about it. They better get to working hard before the relese of the evo because it has, a front facing webcam, back facing 8 megapixel camera with white, balance, auto fucus, and effects. The 4g network is gonna put alot of networks to shame. Some companies like at&t have a hard time pulling data from the 3g network. Let along with having a 4g network. Data is incredible with sprint sppeds. There ahead by quite a margin. The underdog steps ahead.

I can’t even wait, I have had my bb curve for over 2 years (out of contract) and was seriously considering switching to AT &T for the iPhone… unbeliveable I know but, now that the HTC Evo is coming out I will be first in line to purchase mine…no matter the cost.
