Palm Pre 4G for Sprint

by Kevin on October 20, 2010

We already knew that Pre 2 is coming to Verizon in a couple of months. I am very shocked! Sprint has always been the first choice partner when it comes to releasing Palm smartphones. Maybe they have Palm Pre 4G in the works? This is entirely possible given the fact that Sprint is speeding up the rollout of its WiMax 4G network recently. NYC and LA will be the latest metro area to enjoy the 4G by the end of this year. At the same time Verizon Wireless will also be rolling out the LTE 4G network in selected cities. So, is Palm Pre 4G ready for Verizon? I highly doubt it. After checking specs for Palm Pre 2, we don’t see any indication of 4G at all. The only thing that gets us excited is the webOS 2.0 and 1GHZ processor. Who knows? Sprint might have some surprise for us in the first half of 2011.

Is Palm Pre 2 Coming Soon?

by Kevin on October 8, 2010

I just read this interesting piece of news from Engadget hinting that Palm Pre 2 is coming soon to Europe? Wait, why Europe, what about us in North America? Not fair, not fair. Anyway, what we are speculating now on a Pre 2 is a more powerful processor. Although we might be able to see a bigger screen, the overall form factor will be roughly the same. The original design was well-received, why make any dramatic changes? But given the fierce competition from Android and iOS phones, a bigger and higher resolution screen is must to fend off other smartphones. Games are a big part of why people use their phones often these days. So, a bigger screen will definitely make your gaming experience better.

Palm Pre already does a great job managing all your social networking life on a single device. What can the upcoming Pre 2 make you social networking better? Sure you have a phone contact list, Facebook app, and Twitter app, Palm Pre is by far the best phone integrating all these info for you.

Pre 2 is coming soon and it won’t be cheap. But we will make sure to get you a great deal and save more money here.

Palm Webs Tablet is Called PalmPad

by Kevin on October 1, 2010

It’s a little surprise when RIM announced the upcoming tabled would be called Playbook. We, just like many Blackberry fanboys, thought tablet computer would be named BlackPad. Not that the name really matters, we have some pretty solid reasons to believe that the upcoming webOS tablet would be called PalmPad. In fact it’s coming directly on the recent HP earnings call. Who know if HP will the change the name again? But we are pretty sure the tablet mobile device market will have a very interesting year in 2011. We will have a chance to have hands-on comparison all iPad, Samsung Galaxy Tab, Playbook, PalmPad, and more in the coming months. Stayed tuned.

Tiered Data Plans for Verizon Wireless

by Kevin on September 24, 2010

We knew this was coming - Verizon Wireless will offer tiered data plans in just a couple of months. For those of you who enjoy free Mobile Hotspot via Palm Pre Plus, there is nothing to worry. Verizon will most like to grandfather those already in an unlimited data plan. And the new Verizon tiered data plan is not really a bad news at all. How many of you are constantly streaming videos and audio over 3G networks? If your answer is no then you can actually lowered your monthly bill by opting in for a lower tier. The price will most likely to match that of AT&T and allow you more data usage at the same time. Hey, that’s probably one way to lure some customers away from AT&T during their iPhoneless state.

by Kevin on September 14, 2010

webOS 1.4.5 became available for Sprint about a month ago and now Verizon Wireless and AT&T Palm Pre Plus owners can get the same update. If you have a Palm Pre from Verizon or AT&T, upgrade to webOS 1.4.5 now. What you will get is better PDK support, some GPS fixes, and much improved gaming action. Besure to try some graphic intensive games like “Need for Speed” and see the difference yourself.

Prepaid Palm Pre Plus

by Kevin on August 31, 2010

Verizon Wireless is thinking to offer prepaid Palm Pre Plus and Palm Pixi Plus? That’s what I heard from a number of news/rumor sites. $45 will cover voice and $30 will let you have unlimited emails and web. Only $5 more than a comparable post-paid plan. Too good to be true? Not really. Right now you can have a month-to-month plan if you choose to pay retail price of a new headset. The minimum monthly fee will set you back $39.99. And since you are paying a full retail price for the phone, you are not required to sign up for any data plan. If you don’t want to be locked into a 2-year contract and don’t want to pay a full retail price for a new mobile phone, pay as you go plan is a good solution. However, a prepaid Palm Pre Plus will be probably cost you somewhere between $300 and $400 vs. $100 or even $0.00 with post-paid plan. Which one to choose? You decide.
