We’ve heard rumors that AT&T is interested in adding the Pre to their lineup of devices once Sprint’s exclusivity period is up, and now it looks like that’s been semi-confirmed by the CEO of AT&T himself. According to Engadget, Randall Stephenson said at the D7 conference today that he “sees” AT&T grabbing hold of the Pre once it’s available. If this pans out it would be interested to see Apples reaction considering the Pre is a direct competitor to the iPhone 3G.
Will Apple threaten to move the iPhone to other carriers as well if AT&T brings the Pre onboard? What do you think?

I think Apple should move the iPhone to other carriers, actually I think they should have never had an exclusivity agreement at all. There should be phones, and phone service providers, and they should all be interchangeable for what works best for the consumer.
I’d like to see Apple offer the iPhone through Verizon.
If this is true, then that sounds like a pretty sure bet Apple will move to Verizon. It does seem like I’ve heard a lot of people wishing for that to happen for a long time anyway. I personally haven’t really had any issues with any wireless carrier I’ve used, so I’m more inclined to pick the carrier based on which mobile device I like best (assuming pricing is similar, as it usually is), but I seem to be in the minority as most people tend to have almost religious devotion to their favorite network…
There have been rumours for several months now about Apple being in talk with VZW to bring the iPhone to their network. As for the Pre, one would thing that it would be easier for Palm to take the one they’re making for Sprint and convert it for VZW since both carriers are CDMA while AT&T is GSM.
I think AT&T is an unscrupulous company who aids in government wire tapping, they shouldn’t get anything, unless they Palm charges like a gillion dollars, that makes it ok, i guess!
