SUPRISE! Palm Pre Syncs Flawlessly With iTunes.

Thinking about getting a Pre but still torn because you want to be able to carry all of your music with you? We’ll today music lovers and Pre fans are in luck, Fortune Magazine is reporting that if you plug a Pre into iTunes it syncs all of your content exactly like an iPhone or iPod touch would. It looks like as of right now the only music that the Pre won’t sync are the older DRM protected songs (Apple started selling DRM free songs on iTunes earlier this year).

We know that there are plenty of other devices in the wild that have third party software allowing them to sync with iTunes (Palm Treo and 700p). However the nice thing about the Pre is the functionality is built right into the firmware of the device allowing you to connect and sync without installing any additional software at all.

It will be interesting to see how long it will take Apple to let the hounds (lawyers) loose on this one. I just think its ridiculous that you actually have to pay Apple to remove the DRM protection from older songs when it shouldn’t have been there in the first place.

I like my new Pre, but the battery life sucks. I don’t use it that much and it still needs a charge before the end of the day. The good news is that it charges fast.
why aren’t there as many ringtone choices as my old Palm 755 ? What is that about ? I also have not had time to read the manual, so everything has been intuitive, so I still have loads to learn. I got mine on Friday, and it froze today, so that is not even a week. I took it in somewhere and they opened the back and it started working again. Great little toy - a little slippy and slidy.

Don’t worry if Apple messes with iTunes and stops this sync ability. I find it easier to connect my Pre as a USB drive and move the music file manually, then trying to use any sync software!

The few ringtones is a non-issue - why would anyone care about preset tones when you can use any one of the many songs in the Pre’s huge music folder?? Just load some songs and buh-bam!
