A recent post on tech site Electronista claims Sprint employees have already started advanced training on the usage and techniques to sell the new Palm Pre. This is mainly thought to be rumor but is being supported by Twitter posts from a Yahoo employee who recently interviewed Palm investor Roger McNamee of Elevation Partners. The report states that some Sprint employees, who wanted to remain anonymous, are claiming that the Pre will not arrive in stores until June 2009 - which we predicted anyway.
The report goes on to mention the Pre’s main competitor, the Apple iPhone, and notes its refresh history. The phone launched in June 2007 and updated to 3G July 2008.
The opportunity for Palm and Sprint to aggressively promote the Pre before Apple releases their 3rd generation iPhone may prove to be brief; the Pre’s much anticipated release date could be encumbered by the on going war of legal words between Apple and Palm, which has not picked up much steam yet.
