When it comes to Sprint touch screen phones, we are not just talking about Pre and Pixi, although they are the best in my opinion. You should also look at the Samsung Moment and HTC Hero that are both powered by Google Android. The Sprint Moment has a large and bright AMOLED display plus full QWERTY keyboard. HTC Hero, on the other hand, is thinner but lacks a physical keyboard. Android OS is general is great. But somehow when comparing side by side with the Pre, the Moment and Hero are lagging. They don’t respond well especially comes to zoom in and out on a web page. At least the smoothness is not there. HTC Hero is much slower due to the less powerful processor. I could care less about other stuff like camera, flash… Speed matters to me!
So, what’s my choice for Sprint touch screen phones? No doubt is the Palm Pre. Whether it’s the specs or price, the Pre is the best touchscreen phone for Sprint ever. Can you can’t beat the online special price of $99 after instant discount

well the palm pre was a GIGANTIC disapointment. Maybe if sprint ever gets the droid, that would be it.
I have the Hero now (had the Blackberry 8330 for a year, had the Samsung Moment for two weeks, borrowed a Pre for two weeks, then finally bought the Hero).
I love Android’s functionality, the apps, the customizability .. the OS in general is pretty good.
On the Hero, I am very annoyed by the lag, especially since it has a touchscreen keyboard. Typing is a draaaaggg. If a phone has a touchscreen keyboard, then that’s all the more reason that it should have a good processor to handle that and all the background apps. It also takes a long time to switch between apps
I’ve tried the Pre and it’s definitely easier to use than Android phones. The GUI is just so slick and well designed. The browser seems better too. The apps are slowly coming in, but it doesn’t have the user base or developer base yet, and that’s what will drive its future. Hopefully the release of WebOS on Verizon/AT&T will help that.
The Moment was just a piece of crap (but I’ve heard they made some software updates to help with the horrible GPS and battery issues). I didn’t like their implementation of the hardware keyboard. And it’s a HUGE device.
My two cents..
I agree - However I am really bummed that Verizon is getting the the Palm Pre Plus - From what I have read so far it blows the Sprint Pre away.
@Terry, I believe the major difference is that the Pre Plus can run more applications at the same time and can be used as a mobile hotspot.
