Switch From Palm Pre to HTC Evo 4G

Palm Pre Plus for Sale!

We are still a couple of months away from HTC Evo 4G release date. For those of you who got the first Palm Pre in June 2009, it’s your chance to switch from Palm Pre to HTC Evo 4G. At that time you should be eligible for a discount. And for those of you who are already with Sprint for 2 years or more you will get even more discount - $200 or more depending on account standing and length of service. OK, just a precaution here, before you make the switch, makes sure to backup all the contact on the Palm Pre onto your PC. There are some quick and easy way to transfer all your contact information from one phone to another (we will visit this topic in a later post). So, any traitors out there are thinking to switch?

Update: Get a cheap HTC Evo for only $189.99.

I’m definitely thinking about switching. the only hing I don’t like about the EVO is no physical keyboard, but I’m sure i will manage. With all the other great points about the phone I could live with a virtual keyboard.

I’m contemplating a switch, but I like the Touchstone so much I don’t know if I will … and not sure that my company support the HTC phone - am lucky that the Pre syncs with Outlook so well -

I am still really, REALLY hoping Palm comes up with a new WebOS phone by June 6. I love the OS, not so nuts about the build quality of the phone. Surely Palm realizes that without a replacement for those of us who ventured out into the unknown on June 6 they will lose customers. Android is great, but it can’t quite compete with the richness and user experience of WebOS.

TRAITOR? (yeah, I’m switching, unless the EVO keyboard is bad)

With the loss of Gdial Pro and no good replacement in the form of Google’s HTML-5 web app, coupled with horrible battery life and poor build quailty…I’m moving over to Android. Sorry Palm. It was a wonderful 6 year relationship.

Definitely looks interesting. If I didn’t love my iPhone so much (which I actually hate to admit) I’d be waiting on line.

I’m gone! The palm pre hardware is so cheap. I love the OS … wish the EVO would run webOS. My wife has the samsung moment, and I am jealous of the apps available. As soon as the EVO is available (or even presale) I will be in line.

It’s very tempting but I truly think WebOS is the best mobile OS out there right now. So I’m currently staying with my Palm. I’m also not a real big fan of Android (there are some bright spots though, Google maps, Google voice, etc). The platform is fragmented and the OS does not seem to flow well to me. All that said I really hope that Palm comes out with better hardware by this fall. Though I’m not sure how likely that is in their current condition.

getting EVO on day 1 unless its crazy priced or the plans are crazy priced.

i think webos is better than any other mobile os but they dont have the hardward to back it up.

i think traitor is the wrong word…i think only apple people are committed to the company even if they bring out sh*tty products….i simply try to get the best product out there no matter who makes it. also since this looks to be the best phone on sprint and any other carrier in the world, thats the main reason i will get it unless palm or someone else pulls a hat trick before the EVO drops.

As long as the price is right, I will be giving my Pre to my daughter and getting an Evo. I’ve already dropped my webOS development efforts and will focus on Android from this point forward.

Ok, I do love the webos, and yes it’s only going on 1 year old, but they neglected the basic voice feature, that EVERY phone has. Ridiculous considering the law that passed. Come on!

The samsung moment is an awesome phone, but I didnt want to switch, but this new HTC 4g is looking pretty!

I’ve been with Palm since the early Treo’s and stuck with them up to the Pre, was excited since they were trying to build something that might compete with Apple but they just fell drastically short on all levels. What sold me was the Pre’s ability to multi-task but now there’s a lot of phone’s that can do the same. It’s been a decent phone but without a good development pool behind them I don’t feel it will ever capture a strong user base. And since then there’s a lot of phone development companies that are putting out some great products.

I’m switching to the EVO for a variety of reasons even though I’m not crazy about a touch screen keyboard (although it does look like the EVO’s screen character buttons are bigger than iPhone’s).
