After all it was just a bad call by thestreet.com analyst. Glad to hear from a number of sources that the Pre is still coming to Verizon Wirelesss. Maybe I was just too emotional after reading the reported rumor. Now everything seems to be clear up there is much hope that both Palm Pre and Pixi will make its way to the most reliable wireless network in North America.
What was I thinking before? Of course Verizon still loves Pre! Based on the past and current partnership Palm has with carriers, T-Mobile is the only one that doesn’t carry any Treo an Centro smart phones. That wasn’t a big deal at all since Tmobile has much smaller subscription base than other big carriers. And since Verizon doesn’t have any iPhone like device in the near future (at least until AT&T ends the exclusive deal with Apple), the Pre can really take advantage and market to the iphoneless Verizon customers. Many of my friends who were anxiously looking for a touch screen phone already upgraded to the BB Storm last year. And they will have choices early next year thanks to the Pre

they need something if they don’t have an iPhone!!
When is this going to happen. I am planning on changing my service and will do so with Verizon, only if they have the Palm Pre…
I have become really frustrated at the lack of information about this issue. I have spoken with friends at Verizon in the executive branches. What is the deal?! Why is this so hush hush?? I want a Palm product on Verizon but I will not wait forever for a Pre…
Those who review the Palm Pre have not “owned” the phone nor used it for an extensive period of time like me. This phone was an upgrade (Sprint) and my primary communication device. When I first purchased mine, I did like it a lot, the touch screen was very nice, the size of the phone fit in my pocket well, the sound quality was good on phone calls, screen resolution very nice as well.
Now for the bad news. After using this phone exclusively for almost 3 weeks the phone simply shut off on it’s own. Yes it turned itself OFF. I would restart phone by pushing the appropriate button and then it took almost 5 minutes to turn on! When I tried to open the keyboard by sliding it open, many times it abruptly turned itself OFF again. Apparently (I showed this to the rep at Best Buys) when I slid the screen open to expose the keyboard and touched on one of the keys such as the space bar or period button simultaneously it would shut down! The phone would be idle for a while and when I tried to use it, it was completely shut off, not functional what soever! At this point it took at least 5 minutes to reboot or turn on again. This happened with a “complete battery charge”. What a major DISAPPOINTMENT!!! I am no alone, my daughters babysitter is on her SECOND Palm Pre which does the same annoying thing!! Sorry Palm but I went with the HTC. A much nicer solid (not plastic feel) but am presently experiencing problems with voice mail when it is downloaded on the phone, the software is freezing my phone. The HTC can store all messages into memory on the phone for playback like a tape recorder but has a “BUG”. I dial into my voice mail box until HTC or Sprint corrects this bug. When I initiated this voice mail feature, the phone prompted :looking for ugrade” which I had no choice but to sleect OK then trouble began. It started to download and would not stop, even overnight. While on a recent trip, I tried to use the voice maill feature, but it “froze up’ the phone. I had to do a phone reset to get it to work again but then lost all my contacts and downloads. After using both phones as my primary communication device (I am wireless at home), I will stick with the HTC. The Palm Pre has too many issues for me. Paul in Indy
Glad to hear! Can’t wait for the Pre!
@Paul Lin
I had the same problem you have with the Pre shutting off on its own. I was about to drive to Best Buy to get another one when I decided to check out the battery. I took the battery out, then put it back in and it hasn’t shut-off on its own since then (over a week now). I searched the internet and found that there is a problem with the battery not seating correctly. Simply taking the battery out and reseating it would have solved your problem. Others have placed a piece of paper on the top of the battery to solve this. Look at #12 on this site: http://www.ismashphone.com/2009/06/palm-pre-tips-and-hacks.html
I can tell you as a phone junkie (I’m on my 20th cell phone and 4th carrier) that every phone has problems. I currently have two Pres, a Hero, and a Moment. I’ll take the Pre over the Hero and the Moment any day. So much easier to use.
